Received text message right after posting on Craigslist. Texter wanted to purchase item with certified check, to be sent to me and item to be picked up after check "cleared". Fairly certain check would be for more that amount with proceeds to go back to texter. Scammer claimed he was a Marine vet.

Did you actually deal with him or turn him down? I also received similar text to buy something but sending certified check for more than amount and give money to shipper.
