My Caller ID says they called from Madison, WI, while I was at work (9/13/12 3:02pm CST). They didn't leave a message on my answering machine. Since we can't opt out from political calls, I prefer to talk to those idiots and give them bad data. "I'm voting for Ronald Reagan, I love his movies." "I'm voting for John Kennedy, even if he is Catholic." "I'm hoping to re-elect Fighting Bob La Follette to the Governor's office!"
Try making their call a fun one. If you recognize the bad number before you pick up the phone:
Try your best Hogan's Heroes accent: "Colonel Klink's office, Heil Hitler...", or "Major Hochstetter's office - zis had better be important or you vill be taken out and shot!".
Start singing the theme from Gilligan's Island or The Beverly Hillbillies and see how far you get before they hang up.
Poll them. Don't say hello, ask: If the Presidential Election were being held tomorrow, whom would you vote for? How many registered voters are at their location. Would they care to make a campaign contribution to Pat Paulsen.
If you're ambitious, try a variation of comedian Tom Mabe's routine where he pretended to be a Homicide Detective when a telemarketer called.
