I think most people who use 800notes know that the DNC Registry is pretty worthless for controlling calls like these. My phone has a 250-number blocking capacity and it's filling up fast.
Defenders of the DNC Registry--and there appear to be a few of them, likely government employees--say that telemarketing calls have fallen off sharply since the establishment of the registry. That's only true if you count large major legitimate businesses, who are the only ones who obey the law.
I receive more calls than ever, from solar energy salespeople, credit card "interest-lowerers", fake Microsoft technical people, lawn service companies, exterminators, sellers of fake extended warranties, phony IRS agents, mortgage brokers, air conditioning repair companies, and just about everyone else. Such calls are illegal but the FTC does nothing and never will do anything. Complaints just vanish without any action being taken by any government agency. It's pretty sickening, but that's government "efficiency" for us taxpayers.
Another day, another scammer who is out to get anyone who answers his or her phone. The DNC list, please note, has nothing to do with blocking these scammers and others up to no good. The DNC list does stop companies and others that are legitimate and reputable, but scammers and spoofers like this caller simply ignore anything to do with the DNC list. Basically, they thumb their noses at everyone -- and laws -- as they pursue the almighty dollar. Also, Caller ID this time states only "NEW JERSEY," in all-caps. That tells people nothing, a sign that the caller is a jerk.
It's a shame that the DNC doesn't simply stop all companies from calling people like this. I cannot think of one situation where anyone would ever believe a random call like this, even if it comes from a 'legal' company. This is 2015. Calling people like this is no longer a legitimate way to do business.
They called this morning, I missed their call. Obviously unsolicited call, probably a scam. Sometimes I report these calls to the FCC, but they make reporting them so difficult. I truly hope the FCC comes here and looks at these posts. They'd catch a million scammers very quickly. I bet they don't, though. Frustrating.
Missed a call from these people at 11:30 AM. Will be reporting it but what is going on this year? I have never gotten so many illegal calls when my cell number is on the DNC list. It's gotten gradually worse over the last 2-3 months.
