Got 2 calls from this "number" today (according to FiOS callerID). One time they asked for "Mr. Davis" or something so I said they had wrong number. Second time was 2 hours later and they just hung up. I'll make sure to not use for my energy needs.
I answered the called but no one spoke, so i called them back and they are a company called Palmco Energy and are soliciting customers for electricity and gas.
I told them I am not interested and to remove me from there calling list.
This appears to be a one-day scam. Fisrt clue is that you are getting a call from area 609, and you live in 609, yet caller ID says "outside of area". Hmmm.
I got three calls from this number during the day (11-12-2010), two hangups when I answered, 3rd time I briefly got a rep and when I commented politely that I had gotten earlier calls, she immediately swtiched me to what turns out to be loops of repeat messages. Using Star 69 just replies that "this feature cannot be activated because this number is outside the calling area". (Sorry folks, how can a call from 609 area be outside my 609 area, and is this a loophole that is VerIzon's fault or a gap in Federal regulations?) Calling back the 609-227-4800 number got me to the same loops I had been switched to live. So, I don't know who called except that it did relate to electric/power.
I'm on the do not call list, but I also am using the same phone # for a home business and I guess that's how these sleazeballs got to me. So first lesson is to delist your phone number under any and all of your names.
This is the worst I've seen in a long time. Calling back 609-227-4800 now likely gets you to dead air. I amde multiple calls earlier this evening and got to two-stage phony messages about my progress in the queue. And long loops ended by silence. I can provide text of these robot messages if anyone replies, but likely you all have run into this before..
