Got a Vm from this number - Name was Martin O'Connor - with an Indian accent? - saying that if I didn't respond that I would be arrested, called them back, they barely spoke English, I asked for a supervisor, then some guy name Robert James gets on - and then proceeded to tell me that the payment plan I'd gotten on with the IRS - by phone - YESTERDAY (and I've been on the phone with the IRS practically every week - minimally once a month - for 6 months) had been revoked and that I needed to pay $5450 - today - and THEN they would cut my outstanding IRS bill in half - and - put me on ANOTHER payment plan - but if I didn't pay them this today - that I would be arrested - TODAY. Thank goodness I looked up the number while I was on the phone and realized that it was a scam. Nothing they said made any sense and I had a funny feeling from the beginning - so glad I didn't give them any seriously personal information!
Claimed to be James Caston and calling about an infraction with the US Treasury and demanded my immediate action. I agree with DJ, Government offices do not contact people this way.
