Just got a call from Steve Martin myself. Latin accent. Thanks for posting all this info. I googled the number on the off chance I'd find something like this site. Whew. Nasty scam.
Received a call from this number on house phone earlier stating that it was Steven ? from the United States Treasury and that there would be a warrant out if I did not return the call. After calling back the voicemail immediately came up and it was an Indian lady stating she was with the US treasury and to leave a voicemail.
It's a con. It is not the IRS, but a common scam. Please do not fall for this. Do not pay them. If you are concerned about your tax bill, please contact the IRS directly. This number is not the real IRS.
The latest and greatest in rip-off phishing scams. They claim to be with the US Treasury, but clearly are not. Please do not fall for this. Many people have lost a great deal of money to this scam. If you fear that you owe the IRS, deal with the IRS directly. They will be a lot kinder than these crooks.
