Have gotten calls from this # at least twice a day for last 3 days. Phone rings twice only. Reverse call an d get busy signal. Listed as New Jersey directory assistance. Must be a scam
This caller has been dialing several times a day for the last few days and hanging up when we respond. It rings twice and they hang up if we don't get it before. There is no answer when we call them back. It seems like an automatic dialing machine. Please put a stop to this.
Received calls from 609-555-2323 for the 9th time in 72 hours, all of which "disconnected" before I could answer. Calling this number back produces a message: "You have dialed an invalid number.... cannot be completed as dialed."
Citizens of America, this is a "spoofed" number. Unlike (good) computers, if your telephone becomes a victim(cell or land line), you have NO WAY of determining the TRUE number behind the call or text message. Technically, it is entirely possible to stop/prevent this abuse -- but the F.T.C., F.C.C., and U.S. Justice Department have no interest in stopping such abuse to you and all other consumers. I tell you this as a licensed "Computer Engineer", holding multiple degrees in the profession, including a doctorate, and 46 years in the profession.
The "bad guys" who perpetrate their scams are way ahead of the government. Such calls may have originated in Nigeria, Russia, Tel Aviv, or Manila -- all capitols of "scammers" and "identity thieves". Area code "609" has been a major "spoofing" favorite--at least use of area code "609". I have blocked this area code from both of my 2 phones, both with/on my devices and providers.
Doing such is --currently-- your only defense. Forget "help" from authorities of any kind. Defend yourself, then suggest to your State and Federal legislators that they stop scammer capability of "spoofing" telephone numbers, random dialing devices (already illegal in many States), and contempt for American laws in general. Such is entirely possible
through legislation and enforcement. If YOU don't speak up, nothing will change, you will continue to be a victim!
