Liar claiming they are from "Merchant Services" and need to talk to someone about mistakes on the processing statements that went out. I said: "I'm confused, which statements?" they hung up. No doubt they are trying to get past the gatekeeper to talk to someone who might might buy merchant services (credit card processing) from them. Since they called a one-person company, I know they have absolutely no business with us and are just lying about "processing statements" that don't exist (we don't take credit cards).
Called saying they were from the Small Business Group Alliance, working for First Data. Wanted to make sure we were processing credit cards properly as there was a flag on our account. Could not tell me what account. Also asked for someone who had worked here 2 years ago, before we switched processors. Had no answers, but lots of questions...
They called today. Wanted me to fax them my merchant service statement because like others said it was "flagged" and I was getting overcharged. When I asked them what happened after I faxed them the bill they said, "we will show you where you are being overcharged over the last 3 months and reimburse you" When I asked them what happened after that...they had no answer. Funny, and this was the manager I was talking to supposedly. I imagine the poor girl working minimum wage who called initially actually thinks she is making legitimate calls. My guess is after you fax them the bill, they give you a big fat number that you will get refunded with a paper to "sign here" to get your refund and then you'll be stuck in a world of [***] trying to cancel a 2nd merchant service account which will cost you a few hundred dollars to break the contract you didn't know you signed.
A woman called today and after I answered said she wanted to speak to someone in "Accounts Receivable". I then asked how I could help her and she laughed and hung up.
