You'll have a better chance of that happening if they're not getting anything at all from your number. They have little to gain leaving you messages other than perhaps finding your number works, maybe a name if it's in the outgoing message. They do tire of calling numbers that have no kind of answer and it's a live voice they want most.
When I answered it was automated from Google Business claiming I had discrepancies with my account. I hit "1" to speak with a representative. A woman came on and asked if I was the business owner. I said Yes. She asked for my name, to which I answered. She said "let me look up your account" and then she HUNG UP ON ME! Now I'm worried I was spoofed or something!
Any of these numbers that call my cell, I have a blocking app on there and use it. If it's a landline and it bothers people so much, they need to have a blocking service on their landline provider. Unfortunate that you'll probably have to pay for it, but I don't see any other way around it. My cell number is from a former business, that's why I'm getting harassed with Google business listing scam calls. I got a call a few minutes ago from another number with 412 area code, same thing, comes up as "Marketing." Blocked & Deleted.
