Calller is "Joel Cardis", debt collector, using "Law Offices" in their title. Calls for a family member, not us. They call early AM and late PM, within the hour limits but annoying and they know it. Also use phone numbers 610-382-5062, 610-239-7147 and others from the Norristown, Pa area code.
They've started calling us about a month ago at first it was just done randomly, but now its been about 2 or 3 times a week. Same scenario as 'Docket' described. I've now put them on call block. Since this is some new type of call I did check all of my card and credit accounts to make sure it wasn't something I'd missed. there is nothing outstanding, and we have a credit monitoring service so - no new accounts should be opened. I'm inclined to believe its a type of scam

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
