Legitimate Live call recorded 15  November 2013 from (610) 589-3086
Caller ID: Womelsdorf PA

Called recently from: **same number**

A live call from Pennsylvania Gas & Electric to offer their utility supply service as an alternative to our local PECO utility company acting as utility and supplier.

There was an article on October 28, 2013 in the Philadelphia Inquirer (newspaper) on exactly this subject:

(There is a link at the bottom to my Spam Calls web page where you can hear a recording of this phone call)

Here is a transcript of our conversation:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[me] Hello?

[they] Hi, can I speak to the person who handles your PECO gas bill?

[me] Speaking.

[they] Good afternoon, my name is Preston. I'm an energy consultant for Pennsylvania Gas & Electric. I'm actually just calling today in regards to a possible savings on the gas and electric supply portion of your bill through the state of Pennsylvania's "Energy Choice" program. Have you heard of that program?

[me] Uh, no, I have not.

[they] All right, well it's actually, it's a program made possible by PECO and the Pennsylvania Utility Commission. Basically everyone can now uh authorize a certain rate on the supply portion of their bill, lower than what PECO currently charges you. Um, a few years back the utility company could profit off the supply and distribution portions of your bill, but due to deregulation they can no longer profit off the supply so they have to charge you exactly what they pay for it. So what we're calling about today is just to advise you that when you enroll with Pennsylvania Gas & Electric you'd receive a competitively priced monthly variable rate as long as you choose to participate. After your 12 billing cycle you'll receive a 12% rebate on your single highest month supply charge. The program itself it's simple, it's easy, it offers absolutely no risk to you. There are no contracts to sign, no fees for enrollment, or penalties if you ever choose to cancel. Do you know if you've chosen an alternate supplier for your gas and electric or do you still go through PECO for your supply.

[me] Wait a minute, PECO is electricity.

[they] Oh, you don't have natural gas through PECO?

[me] Uh, no. PECO is electric power.

[they] Ok, PECO is the electric portion. Ok, yeah, I mean well some areas that we call they provide for both gas and electric. But for the electric, um, so you go through PECO for your supply of electricity as well as them being your utility company, correct?

[me] Well, not anymore, I've moved.

[they] So they're not your utility company anymore, or...

[me] Correct.

[they] So you don't have them for gas or electric now?

[me] Correct.

[they] Ok, um, well then, thank you very much, I, you can just disregard the call and you have a great day.

[me] Ok, thank you, have a good weekend.

[they] Thank you, you too, thank you.
