A women called asking if MR. or Mrs. xxxx was home and I said 'yes' She said my first 'name' and then hung up. I called the number back and a electronic phone message said the number has been disconnected. Based on the exchange it is an Allentown area landline phone number from ATX.
The caller was representing a "Home engergy survey company". They wanted to come out and do a "free" home engery survery and provide us with information on how to get $1500 back for the energy audit. So the government is going to pay me $1500 just for having a free survery done? LOL. It's just a scam to probably sell you windows. She did explain that they got our number from a card we filled out at Musikfest...to enter us in a some contest (free cruise or something).
610-973-0524 has shown up on my phone ID several times in the past month. No one ever leasve any message. One night early last week, I decided to call this number from a different phone. The Verizon operator informed me the number was no longer in service. On the 11th of this month, while working on my computer, my phone rang and that number showed up on my phone ID which is within arms length of my PC keyboard. I answered the phone. A lady starts telling me how she can get me a portion of grant money and some stimulus money to the tune of about $3500 in vouchers - IF - I would let Green Home Energy install a new roof, siding, and windows on my house. If I did not use the $3500 within two years, the vouchers would expire. Since, I do NOT need any of these items, I informed her I was NOT interested in her offer. (Knowing that this offer appeared to be a SCAM!) She then put her supervisor on the line who told me his rep would stop by my home on Monday 3/15 to check on the Windows, Siding & Roof. I have no idea if any person actually put in an appearance at my home as I was not home most of the afternoon. However, this evening upon returning from supper, I fould two calls on my ID, one at 2:12 PM and the other at 2:47 PM (Both from a "DE STOFFEY" )and one message from somebody who identified himself as "Harold". This "Harold" stated that it was then about 3:00 PM and his supervisor was taking notes on my windows, roof, siding at my house at the very moment. None of my neighbors reported anything or anbody being suspicous while I was away. This person "Harold" gave a different number where he could be reached - 610-776-1948. I did NOT return his call. As I said earlier in this message, This is a SCAM!
