I received a call, saying that the extension I had called is not available please leave a message. I did not answer the call, my answering machine did.
This # just called me and left a voicemail saying I they have serious allocations and good luck . Wow I've never heard of a credit collection company leaving msg's like this . They didn't even use my name ?!? Scam!
I was scammed big time. I had taken an online payday loan which turned my world upside down. I got this call saying it was the sheriffs office they told me there was a warrant out for my arrest. They also said it was being issued within 24 hours if I didn't pay back the loan within that time. Thinking I had maybe gotten payback loan date wrong I paid it. Then to find out it was a scam. It wasn't the loan I had taken out. So now for two tears they have called threatened and even harassed me at work. I just got call today from this number telling me good luck and saying they are sending sheriff. Im done I won't pay anything over the phone
Any caller who pressures you to pay immediately, is always suspect. Per the FDCPA, you should not pay any caller who refuses to mail - do not accept email or fax - proof of debt/proof they have the legal right to collect said debt. Refusal to mail this documentation within five days of their first call is a violation of federal law.
You should also know by now that debt is civil, not criminal. So it doesn't matter if you've defaulted on a loan - you cannot be arrested! And law enforcement is not in the business of debt collection, so you don't receive calls from them either. More info on this scam here:

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.
According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.
The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers.
