I've received 4 calls from them on my cell phone in the past week (they never left a message) & answered the phone today so I could stop the calls. The lady calling identified the company as Republic Services/Allied Waste, asked for me by name and wanted to know if I was responsible for the trash service for my household. I asked where they got my number (she didn't know) and explained that they apparently weren't checking it against the do not call list. The lady claimed that they were and said that she'd take my name off the list. I also told her that trash service was handled by my association & she said that she knew that (so why call me?!). I've reported them on the www.donotcall.gov site for violating the do not call list.
SCAM - BEWARE! The guy tried to tell me he was with our trash company, they were offering a special right now. He wanted payment information. I live in a rental facility, and our trash/recycle is part of our rent, PLUS through a different company. DO NOT GIVE CREDIT CARD OR BANK INFORMATION.
I received a call from this number today, but had missed it, so looked online to see who it was since they didn't leave a message. Found this list of posts and decide to add my name to it. I am currently in the middle of purchasing a house, which I will officially close on later this month. I wonder if through something related to that, they somehow got my information? Anyway, now I know what it's about and will try to ensure I answer tomorrow and tell them not to call me, as I am also on the Do Not Call list.
