Didn't answer this unknown number. Voicemail from an IVR stated it was United Healthcare & left a return #1-855-344-6234 saying to use the phone from the verifiable number associated w/ my health plan. I called that 855 # from hubby work phone & IVR asked for birthday, I gave phony b-day & IVR said that it couldn't continue call by information given bc it couldn't find me in their system.
I am tempted to believe this call is legit. I tried to call UH primary # but their IVR directed me to the office which was closed so before further interaction regarding this numbers, I will definitely verify w/ UH before giving any info.
One thing puzzles me too though, I get a lot of calls saying they are UH related but they keep calling from different numbers. Because I don't want to miss a call from them, each time they call from an unknown #, I add it to their register of associated numbers. I've got 8 phone numbers now & if this one pans out it'll be added. Drives me nuts, why can't they use a universal number so we don't have to go through this type of worry about scams & scammers setting a trap for us!! Geez! Where is UH suggestion box???
They gave message that my insurance company (UnitedHealthcare) wanted to update my medical information, they asked "is your name (my name) to which I replied "yes" Soon I realized that they may have just recorded my reply of "yes" which is the scam that appears to be going around now.
