I copied this message from the CRTC site..... looks like even if you have been put on the do not call list, political parties seem to be exempt from the rules. Figures! I have had calls from this number several times per day over the past week
Does being on the List prevent all unsolicited calls?
Being on the National DNCL keeps you from receiving most telemarketing calls, but there are exceptions. Registered charities are still allowed to call for donations, and certain other organizations—such as companies conducting polls or surveys, political parties, and newspapers looking for subscriptions—can also continue to contact you. As well, if you’ve done business with a company in the last 18 months, that company is considered to have a relationship with you and is allowed to call. After 18 months the company must stop calling if you’re on the National DNCL, unless you give permission otherwise. To learn more about exemptions, call 1-866-580-DNCL (866-580-3625) or go to www.dncl.gc.ca.
I have been receiving over a dozen calls in a week by this phone number and when I picked up no one was on the other end or responded, dead air. When I called the number a voice message indicated "thank you for calling the campaign line", I then left a message asking that my number be removed (twice). That same night I received 3 additional phone calls from that number.
They have called FOURTEEN times in 6 hours. When I picked up, there was no sounds or anything. I called back and asked not to call around 5 times, and they haven't stopped calling.
