This number shows up as "PRIVATE" but if you google it, it also shows up as the Malawi embassy. Not sure what the story is there.
Someone from this number has repeatedly called and I finally picked it up. The man on the other end claimed that he was polling my community to see if there was enough interest to do a local CPR course to be given in the area. I politely brushed him off and he asked if he could follow-up when there was interest.
He asked me to confirm my address — it's listed in the phone book and asked my first name.
Two days later someone SHOWED UP AT MY HOUSE to follow up on the CPR course. This is the woman who claims to be a "volunteer" for this organization: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=101501 ... 76341370&type=1.
She claimed that there were already classes going on this weekend (which doesn't mesh with the story given by the guy on the phone). She wants you to give her cash, cheque or even a credit card (HA!) to register with her while she's at your door.
This is a known scam. The Ottawa Police know about it, but say that it's a "civil" matter and can't do anything about it.
