I got the same call or a similar version. Name was not legible,but the man said that my name was under criminal investigation,and I or my lawyer should call him back right away to avoid any negative things happening as the investigation unfolded. he also wished me a nice day and said God bless you. A little scary when I first heard the message,but quickly figured out it was a scam.
Couldn't really understand him but what I could make out is they are stating I need a lawyer in regards to sex charges and need to call back as it is time sensitive. Either myself or my lawyer. If no call back, I'm wished good luck.
Yep, call spoofing and using a number that may seem to be from Canada and yo my Canadian home phone number. I had a similar one today and laughed when the first thing the automated voice said was "your lawyer. " Whatever was said before was cut off but for the message after "lawyer" I had a great chuckle. These a-holes obviously don't know how the Canadian government works, they also don't know how debt collection agencies work either. A few weeks ago I had the one where the guy advised "we'll be at your home tomorrow between 1 and 3 and it was in my best interests to deal with this matter because I was under investigation by the Federal Government." From the number left on my caller I.D. last time, it originated from Virginia, area code 434. Ohhhh I see, you mean the U.S. Federal Government and they're investigating meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bahahahahaha I'd love to get at least one of these scammers right in front of me one day, would use my old Louisville on their skull(s). Do what I ALWAYS do anytime you get a call from someone and it's stupid or suspicious: Google it and yep, you can always expect it to show up in that many others have been called, mostly receiving the same version of call or a slight twist of the same messages. What should ALWAYS be a sign of a scam is when they stray from actual facts-wish you well, God Bless you etc. Did you know: the government and most any business whatsoever, will NEVER mention religion etc. since it's now considered offensive, just as many now no longer wish you Merry Christmas in case you don't celebrate it or could be offended? The messages you might receive from these clowns could start off with "you owe us, it's serious, we'll be there in person, you might get the electric chair or lethal injection BUT have a nice day, okay!!!!" LMFAO at all of those who think that scams like this will even get them a nickel out of people.
