I got a call from this number from a imposter claiming to be Robert Gibson, a government agent working for Canadian Cyber Incident Response Centre. He claims that my computer has been hacked by someone in Mexico and I was vulnerable to losing valuable info from my computer.
He claims to be calling from Brampton. But 613 does not make sense as it belong to Ottawa.
He wanted me to verify the CSL ID of my computer.
I told him to buzz off and take a hike !
Just got a phone call from this number twice today caller id listed the number as VO722162244008 and as VO722125331008 I decided to answer the phone and started talking to a man with a very heavy south asian accent making it difficult to understand him. He stated he was from the canadian cyber incident response centre and tried to explain that someone had hacked into my computer and he needed me to go into my computer and verify some personal information. I was not going to do this. When I asked him for a contact number he gave me the 613 440 4277 when I asked him for information about there dept such as are you affiliated with microsoft, or sympatico. He stated he was a dept of the government. When I asked which level of govt. he said they were with the federal govt. I told him that I am not going into my computer until I have a chance to verify his information and then I hung up. when I dialed the number 613 440 4277 I got a recording that the number is out of service. When googled the VO numbers from above. the information I got told me they were numbers associated with cell phones either in India or China. This is a scam and do not fall for this.
Total scam - I asked to speak to someone in french - they could not provide. But your are an agency working for the federal government.... 613-440-4277.
Just got a call from the same number. The last time I thought I was being scammed I called the police and they said to google any suspicious numbers so I did this right after getting off the phone. She said that five computers were using my computer ID and that I was at risk of losing all my informant and would be responsible if it was being used for illegal purposes, she wanted me to log onto my computer and she would walk me through it. Told her that I would call Bell first and if they thought it was an issue that I would call them back.
