Telemarketing scam from outside the country, or at least outside the Ottawa ON area where this supposed phone number originates. The giveaway for me was the distinctive ring I have for long distance calls - which activated with this number, although the number itself is dedicated to western Ottawa ON (Canada). The telemarketers can spoof (create fake) caller ID with this or any number, but they cannot fool the phone system which determines that the call originates outside this area. These scammers try dozens of phone numbers until they find one not in service, like this particular one used currently ending in *2568. Their thought is that a local number on caller ID will not scare away some prospective sucker. Well, tough luck jerks!
