got a call this evening, left a message saying that he was from Canada Revenue Agency and there was legal action against me, his last name is Smith. I tried calling the number that he left and it was a very fast busy signal. Was a bit scared when I first heard it but have been reading many posts from people with similar messages. It's very disturbing!!
Don't call them back, its a widespread scam. They are doing this in the US also. If you have a call blocking device or phone, block em! Most of these calls are coming out of India and Pakistan.
I got a call purporting to be from the CRA and they gave a name and this number. When I called it today, they answered as CRA. Call display from the scam call showed the 1-800 number assigned to Revenue Canada enquiries! They seemed to have accurate information and were threatening legal action and a warrant. The requests for payment to delay the action were the tip off but they were pretty slick!
Received a call from John Adams Claimed to be from Criminal Investigations of Revenue Canada @ 613-604-9888 and has to do with on going Legal Actions against my name and to call back soon as possible. I will not call back as I do not have any legal action against me and Rev Canada does not operate this way.
