Some baffone called my cell phone today telling me that the CRA was in the process of suing me. What non-sense my tax accountant and I are totally up to date and clear with the CRA and have been for 40 years. The CRA by the way do not behave this way at all nor would they. I called the number back and got some indian fellow claiming to be Jack Williams assistant.the number was 1-613-927-9687. I didn't dignify the call other than hanging up. What a scam!
A call placed to me from this number was a SCAM claiming to be the Canadian revenue agency and that I owed the CRA monies from previous tax years and that a warrant was out for my arrest. The CRA will NEVER CALL YOU saying you are going to be arrested. If you are unsure, call the CRA and ask to have your file checked. The CRA will simply charge you interest on unpaid returns that will continue to compound.
I just got the same message about a warrant being out for me as I owe money. I tried calling back to question it and got no answer or even a recording.
Got the same call, supposedly spoke to Office James badge # 10807 - asked for his superior, he said he was it... i owed cra 800 and they would send the rcmp and call 911 for me, i told him to go ahead....and basically hung up... some people really dont have anything better to do with their time
