I got a phone call today but the number was 613-703-2707. They man left a message on my voice mail. It was hard to understand what he was saying. I listened a couple of times and he said he was CRA and that there was an investigation with my taxes and something about an audit and it was necessary that I call him back. He said it was a very serious matter and left a code number of 46719 and said to ask for that number when I called. I am in Calgary and wondered if I should call the police.
This number called. I don't recognize the number. Only ID says its in Cornwall Ontario. COUld be spoofed anyway. They did leave a message - a very broken english voice states that it is CRA and its an investigation of a criminal matter and to call back immediately.
This number call yesterday it was really hard to understand the message, the English was really bad. The guy said that it is was CRA and its an investigation of a criminal matter and it was urgent to call back. He never mention who he want to speak too also. Pretty sure its a SCAM.
Yes got the same msg - someone with broken English left a msg not addressed to anyone stating tax scam call back immediately and it was very serious - called CRA - said its a scam.
I repeat what the above posts said. The call display read: unknown, so I let it go to voice mail. A crackly, broken up message which I barely heard, spoken by a man with an accent. His message was sketchy, something about a criminal investigation. I deleted the message. I believe that if someone of authority wanted to get a message to me about a criminal matter pertaining to me they would be much more professional and clear in their message. This is obviously a scammer.
Has anyone "picked up" to learn what the call is about?
