Called us out here in BC asking for my wife who was not home. Asked me to get her to call" Brian Joy" at 613-704-1342 (an Ontario number) as it was Revenue Canada and it was very important.
I passed on a text msg to her and I then got a call back from my wife in 10 mins later. She said it that Revenue Canada had an arrest for her Warrant for taxes owing. That they sent several payment notices by mail and they got no reply. So they were giving her an hour to pay back $ 7009.46 or she was going to be arrested.
I called back the number and got "Revenue Canada Criminal investigations Officer" "Jim Arthur" Badge number 07862.
He said that she owed money from her taxes over a period of three years. Well that she had to pay or they were going to come to arrest her at her work or home on Friday. So basically the guy stayed to his script and said basically you got to pay and too bad you missed the notices but you owe money and your wife will have to spend the night in jail due to the arrest warrent etc etc
My wife called the police and got a file number for it. I called Revenue Canada 1-866-864-5823 payments/ debts owed to inquire about if there was any issues outstanding. The first thing she said is they would give an 800 number to contact them not the one that we were given to call by the scam artist. she said there is nothing to worry about. I gaave her my and my wife sin numbers and no issues. If there were thing owing they would have showed up on her files.
think they are data mining They are probably data mining..trying to grt your sin number, credit card number or any bank info that they can. If they call you take the pne number and call Revenue Canada and then the police
left me a message the other day. Claimed to be from CRA and that I was under investigation for tax fraud. A warrant was being issued for my arrest and I needed to call aasp.
