We ordered a mattress online, and received this call to let us know the delivery information. This is a legitimate number, from a business calling me because they are delivering what I ordered from them.
I am not sure where these other sites or some of the comments on this site are calling this number slime, terror, scam, etc. I did not answer phone because I did not recognize number, but a message was left. I ordered 2 Serta mattresses from Overstock.com last night and it was info about delivery. Very professional pre-recorded voicemail informing me of a delivery time.
This is a legitimate number. It's a trucking company/delivery service named the MXD Group that handles large shipments (a mattress, in our case) for online retailers, like Bed Bath and Beyond. They called me to notify me of delivery of a purchase, but the message was a recording, sent from a dedicated number in Columbus, OH, and you have to make a noise (say hello will do) to trigger the message. Too bad so many people have reported it to various websites as everything from "slime" to "terrorist". It's just an honest service trying to maintain contact with their clients. These are times of many phone scams, but a very little harmless research might help the rest of us filter these calls more usefully. To verify this you can call MXD's toll-free number at 888-287-5243.
