Has called several times today asking for money for the Breast Cancer Foundation. You can hear in the background that it is a call center. I said I have all ready donated and she said no that was something different. Like sure...I will just give you my card info over the phone......duh
The phone number shows up as "WJEFFERSON 379-6681" on my caller id. This person calls frequently multiple times a day and hangs up on my voicemail, leaves no message. If I answer they keep changing the name of the charity they want donations for, I tell them I am not interested in donating that I can not afford it and I am on a fixed income. I keep telling them to remove me from their list and they refuse to remove me from their list. I have an unlisted phone number and have been on the do not call list since 2003. I think it is a scammer. Different people on line have posted getting these calls with people asking for donations from many different organizations using the same phone number. I tired to block the phone number via ATT phone blocker and it says incorrect number. SCAMMER TRYING TO GET PEOPLE TO DONATE MONEY. Do not call them back or leave message for them. If possible block them, let the voicemail pick up. They can get argumentative if you attempt to talk to them.
02-02-17 about 2pm. Starred 69 and 614-379-6681 was the number that called me. I heard background noise before I said Hello. I knew I shouldn't have said hello because of the tell-tale background noise, but I was expecting a very important phone call. She called me by my last name. She said Ms. ______? I said yes, who's calling. I thought it was my important phone call. She said she was calling on behalf of the breast cancer charity and started to rattle off her speal. I interrupted, "How did you get my number?" She really freaked me out because my number is unlisted and I'm very careful who I give my number to. She repeated she was calling on behalf of a charity as if I was suppose to accept that as the answer. I repeated How did you get my number? We went thru this 3 times. She had me very upset. I don't need to get my blood pressure up like that. I'm not answering my phone anymore. You don't believe me? Try calling me! Ha! I am calling the Breast Cancer Society and complaining. I did call the phoney solicitor back and got an automated message: "You are probably wandering why you got a call from us even though you may be on The Do Not Call LIst". (I'm on the Do Not Call List). The message basically told me that this is a company that solicites money for charities and charities are exempt. Charities should not be exempt if they are going to employ people who skirt around an issue. I'm going to try to contact the FCC and what ever other organization I can to ratify this issue. Please, please be advised you should NOT give money to anyone who calls you asking for it even if you're going to get something for free like an alarm system.
