CID had BROWN NICOLE listed, but a man was calling. Called me by name and started a plea to donate money to a veterans organization. Possibly legit, but you can't donate to every charity that calls.
I also got called 3-4 times in the last few days. I live north of Columbus, OH and this is the American Red Cross. I called the number and voiced my frustrations about getting calls and not leaving a message. It's time for me to give blood again is probably the reason I was called. The guy I talked with said the computer calls and has no way to leave a message.
I told him he should talk with his boss because many people are frustrated with getting calls and no one leaving a message. I told him to Google the phone number and he would see what I'm talked about.
I've received several calls, but no messages were left. I returned the call today, and the person who answered was able to remove me from the Red Cross calling list. Very friendly...
This is the Red Cross. They use a robo dialer to call, it's purpose is to connect the operator with a live person. If there is no answer, or an automated greeting (ie voice mail) the computer hangs up and calls the next number. If a person answers, the dialer then transfers the call to an operator. I used to trick these dialers into connecting my voice mail with a person by starting my greeting with "Hello?" ::2 to 3 second pause:: then "hello" again, and the the voicemail greeting. The operator then hears your greeting and can leave you a message.
