These crooks try to scam the public for alleged help for police groups and cancer groups, among others, and they use the 614 Area Code a lot. So far this year, I have gotten these calls from 27 different numbers that start 614-xxx-xxxx. The worst: 10 call numbers that begin 614-407-xxxx. Fortunately, my online call-blocking service had all of them blacklisted, and the service intercepted and disconnected them. Caller ID for most calls say "Out of area," but they also use "SUPPORTHERO," "CHILDRENS CANCE" and so forth (with all-caps and oddball spelling, etc.).
Ohio Trooper Collation - they are not real Ohio Highway Patrol officers. They usually have 4-6 active telephone lines at any given time (usually all 614 area code). They pad their pockets with your donations and throw a pittance to the cause they are calling for. Do not answer them-they call about once every 3 weeks.
Got one of these as well, no message. Caller ID said "OTC". I never agree to donations via the phone regardless of legitimacy anyway; it just can't be trusted.
