the I.D. said "alarm alert", which my sometimes confused hubby took to mean that he should answer, because our alarm was giving some kind of alert. to further confuse the issue, there was nobody on the other end--just open air. it took some reorientation and conversation with him, but we established that this was a scam, to his satisfaction. now, he's ticked off. so am it.

Calls our 3rd line incessantly. No one there, not even a recording. So fed up with these calls. I've had 5 nonsense calls from various morons already today and it is only lunchtime. I'm trying to concentrate and I have to pause for this crap.

Medical alert sales scam. It's a recorded message activated by answering and saying "hello" then the message pretends to be a live person activated by your voice prompts. It's a spoofed caller ID which guarantees this to be a scam and also means blocking the number won't work either. The only way to fight this is by not answering to begin with.
