Who called from 6164394071

I put a rental ad on Craiglist, and this girl requested information texting from this number. She also use an email address: [email protected].  She sent me a fake check claiming that it covers deposit and the fee to ship her car ahead of her arrival. She wanted me to money gram $1750 to a car dealer. I told her that I won't send the car without my bank confirms that the check is good. Be aware this scam!

You cannot deposit that check; it takes a long time for a bank to verify some checks.

Turn the check and the envelope it came in over to the postmaster at your nearest post office, they have their own law-enforcement investigators.

The scammers will be unhappy you did not send any money, and will pester you for a while.
Remember, they have your address and a phone number, you don't have theirs, so don't give them any more information.

Hi, Thank you for your suggestion. The problem is that I didn't realize this is a scam until after I deposit the check, and start to do investigation. I found out online the phone number of the place issued the check, and called.  The man answered phone told me that he never issued this check, and doesn't know the girl. He also told me that this has been happening about 50 times in the recent month to him.

This "girl" text me just now. I told her what I found out, and told her that I saved all the paper trace and will report her to FBI for investigation.
