I finally answered this and the guy said he was from Comcast. I listened to an awkward lengthy script. He had wrong info which made me wonder. Said we didn't have a dvr (we do), said I was leasing a modem (many years ago they were charging me for a leased modem when I owned it and we had to jump through hoops to get this error fixed) he had a current bill amount that was WAY off and said we had the digital 'starter' package - we don't. Initially I was not too surprised by these discrepancies, because when I've called customer service they don't seem to the correct account info anyway. I ended up hanging up when he put me on hold for a long time to schedule a tech and I started thinking this can't possibly go well. My phone has been blowing up since with 687-393-7960 and the 800-266-2278 comcast number. Seems odd that they wouldn't be even close on my account info, but with that 800 number it has to be legit, right? Paranoid, but I guess I'll only make changes to my account if I call them.
If this is Comcast, they're idiots. I live in TN (5 years now), but still have my 616 cell #. We have Comcast here, but apparently they're calling b/c of my cell #. You'd think in 2016 that the account info would show this.
