This guy called me yesterday and threatened to have a warrant for my arrest if I don't pay him for a payday loan in 2012....very rude!!!! and I believe it's a scam! His name was

Sounds like what just happened to me. The first call came up on my caller id as my local circuit clerks office. tHE CALLER IDENTIFIED HIMSELF AS a Sgt with the local sheriff's department and told me the same you were told (payment must be made now or warrant issued tomorrow, etc.) He game me a number to call and an investigator from an unintelligible law office answered. I did not have to give him my name; it was almost like he just KNEW who I was without asking (my phone number is listed as private on caller ids)! That was my second sign it was a scam. The first is that no law enforcement agency will give you advance warning that you will be arrested on a warrant that has not already been issued. The investigator was quick to try to play let's make a deal and reduce the amount I owed by nearly half. I hung up on him and called the circuit clerk's office who confirmed that no deputies worked in their office and no complaints had been filed against me. When I told the clerk the details of the calls, she told me that it was a scam and was very interested in how they managed to have to have the circuit clerk's number show up as the one they called from.
I asked the investigator repeatedly who I owed money to and he mumbled the answer every time. He tried to call back once while I was on the phone with the court house and has been blocked since then.
this so called individual Christopher Mccarthy with "Criminal Investigation USA" contacted my FATHER!!!! Said I had 3 warrants for me arrest for a bad check.....Said he has been trying to reach me for 2 months....my husband works for the sheriffs department if they wanted to find me and it was legit it wouldn't be that hard!!!! Stupid Dumb [***]!!!!!
If this McCarthy guy wants to be successful in his scam, he really needs to spruce up his speaking skills!!! He's a big time mumbler and his answers to your questions are almost unintelligible!!! Unfortunately, I'm thinking some people might fall for the scam. I just made a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission.
My Mom in Cali got a call asking for me. I have not lived with my parents for 35 years!! I have not lived in Cali for 30 years! This guy told my Mom he was a process server. How is he getting the phone #'s?
I got a call from this guy today too. saying stuff about wire fraud and crap like that..I have to say i was a little intimidated until I read the posts here. First of all I haven't done anything wrong..I work in a law office for pete's sake...second of all if it was legit they would come to your house with an arrest warrant. thanks for the posts made me feel better that I was not the only one being targeted but yes it is freaky they have my DOB, last four SSN etc. where did they get this information?
