We got a call on our home landline at 4:15 today, while we were out, Caller ID of "MASSACHUSETTS". Bizzare ( and highly ILLEGAL) pre-recorded message left on the ans. machine, asking us our opinion of Boston's mayor & asking us to press various numbers if we "like" him or "dislike" him. We live 150 miles from Boston, cannot vote in Boston, so have no opinion on Boston's mayor! They call numbers outside of Boston's area code and harass us with a nonsensical 'survey' but did not indicate WHOM was asking. This may be a 'legal' survey or it may be PHISHING. I thought that legal surveys were still not allowed to use pre-recorded messages; is this true?
We also got a call tonight at 6:33 from 617-398-2372, Caller ID of "BOSTON, MA." I picked up silently at the second ring; just the dead air of a robocall. At least I tied up their line for 10-15 seconds. Curious as to what scam this one is. We block & block but still end up with 5-6 or even more calls daily, with 3-4 of those 'new' numbers. Its impossible to get ahead of this and we rarely have a day's peace.
Both these calls were 'new', as yet unblocked numbers, but will be blocked for the future.
Also got a call. Never answered it and without an answering machine, they can't leave a message. Answering calls, even to "tie up their line for 10-15 seconds" indicates a live number. You'll be sure to continue to get more calls.
