Just received call from them - Realizing they were some bolier room I answered quite strongly. they simply hung up - tried to call back phony recording of phone not in service - This is not a normal phone recording - it is them not wanting to get calls back - if history repeats itself, they will dissappear and reopen somewhere else to try to scam some poor unsuspecting person.
caller asked to verify my business info for inclusion in a FREE online directory. then transferred me to quality control for verification. Qual Control verified info and repeated that basic directory was free and there was an upgrade option (info to be mailed in 3-5 days) for 29.99. Asked me to repeat my info in response to questions. Then launched into a very quickly given, long description in a very thick Indian accent (I asked several times for him to slow down as I could not understand a word). At the end he asked if I understood and accepted this service. I replied "I don't understand what I am accepting now since this is free and the subscription info is to be mailed". Then the caller simply hung up on me. We have received this same phone call on many prior occasions, but this is the first time I have noted the number.
3 days in a row this week my business line has been called by this phone number. When we answer the phone no one speaks and the line remains open. We simply hang up. I have reported this number to the FCC. If there is a God, the FCC will hang these jerks from the highest pole and either put them in jail or fine them heavily. Either way, I will be pleased. We get calls like this numerous times in any given month. Generally, if I am manning the phones, I will not answer any call coming in that appears on the caller ID as "out of area", "private caller" etc. Let the answering machine take the call and 99% of the time the caller hangs up when the machine picks up. This simply indicates to me that this is a telemarketer wanting to waste my time and take me away from the important work of my business by trying to get me to buy some stupid service, product etc that would serve no value to my company. I honestly wished that telemarketing would be outlawed. Business people have far more important, valuable work to do than to deal with those idiots.
