Caller ID says "6173419310". The default format is (xxx) xxx xxxx, so they have spoofed this number to try to look vanilla but have failed. They leave no message.
I have been getting a ton of callers lately from Microsoft Windows Scammers - Dell Variant (they have your Dell Service Tag, Express Service code, etc. and pretend to be Dell). They want some combination of:
1) steal information (e.g. online banking)
2) charge a substantial repair fee
3) install malware which will disable your computer unless you later pay a very substantial ransom.
The ones I have been dealing with are calling from a noisy call center in India.
I googled the number as there was nothing here. The first link was for a part # of a Dell hard drive on Amazon. The 7 digits of the part were the same as the last 7 digits of the phone number.
My guess is they spoofed a phone number that when googled would bring up Dell. This plus the other Dell specific information they have would sell you that they're really Dell. You then are more likely to trust them and fall for the scam.
Once you engage in any way, the number of calls will increase dramatically. My last iteration involved 30 calls in a 2 week period. Many came at obscene hours: 2AM, 6AM, etc. I wouldn't take their calls; eventually they gave up.
