Caller ID says "Cambridge MA". They leave no message.
I call back after hours (using *67 to block my number). Their message is, "Thanks for calling. The original number you dialed is no longer in service, but it's great you called, because by answering these quick questions you could save hundreds of dollars. So let's see what we can save you. Press 5 to continue or press 7 to disconnect."
I press 5 to find out what they are hocking. The computer ask some generic car insurance questions. They then supposedly connect me to big name insurer St*t* F*rm (vowels omitted so my post will not be deleted). I've had similar calls dealing with this insurance company. I have called them directly, and they seem to have no knowledge of this marketing scheme. I have seen a similar technique used with cell phones. I suspect this is a SCAMMER who will take your credit card number/personal info. They will likely charge your card and sell your info, and, of course, deliver nothing.
So the caller spoofs the caller ID. They can't be called back. Then we are supposedly connected to a company who knows nothing about the calls. Smells like a SCAM.
Another new number found on CID. Which scam is it? Electric, solar panels, free trip, free meds or the credit card?? Blocking the number doesn't help. They just use a new number tomorrow!!
We got a call from this number today at 4:17 pm. The caller ID was CAMBRIDGE MA, and it was blocked by our call blocker which blocks all calls with this caller ID. I highly recommend getting such a device to avoid these nuisances. We've gotten similar calls from 617-553-9619.
