Can't be Verizon about bills for me because I'm on auto-pay. I don' t answer as I have read on other sites about scammers hacking phones when the phone is answered.
The number comes up as verizon, but the number is only listed as a Verizon number, not Verizon the company. I contacted Verizon directly and they confirmed it's not them. I knew beforehand as my bill is always paid and I'm on the FCC no call list, etc etc. The caller ID name states "Verizon" just as it would "Texas" or "Florida". It's most likely someone using a Brookline Mass. number as a "Spoof" caller ID number. It's very easy and quite common for literally "anyone" to use any number they wish to appear as the number they are calling from when it's in fact not the number they're calling from at all. If it is/was Verizon they don't won't or shouldn't be calling at all hours to harrass you for payment, especially when payments are always made ontime or in the case of many other who get these relentless annoying calls, they don't even have verizon as a carrier. It's most likely either a Bill/Debt collection agency who bought a bill and your information or Scammers, both using a caller ID spoofer software. If you answer and they hang up it may be the thrid option of software used to log confirmed active numbers to be added to "active" number lists and sold to be added to mailing lists and purchased by anyone willing to pay for that information. It's all in violation of your privacy. Don't answer and report the unknown numbers.
