I too just received a very convincing phone call purportedly from the DEA, Special Agent Anthony Williams. A total scam, year a scarily convincing one! Don't fall for it. Thanks to you all whom earned me of same.
I received a call 12/3/13 @ 3 p.m. from a man calling himself "Anthony Williams" a DEA agent who wanted $5,400.00 cash or he would arrest my husband for buying medications on line illegally. He gave this number 617-892-4145, X-208 which if you call, you get an answering machine. This is a known scam, but it was terrifying at the time.
This same thing just happened to me but I actually picked up the call, hung up on him and he called back and left a voicemail, im in chicago illinois by the way
Just got the call from someone with the same scam. First I thought it was legit because they had a lot of personal info, but realized after a while it wasn't. When they agreed to let me pay a fine instead of being arrrested I became leary and only thought it was possible because they mentioned Dept of Homeland Security and they're capable of a lot of things. I was in doubt for a while. Boy these guys are pretty good. I was on the phone for quite some time. When I mentioned that maybe they should send the Marshalls to arrest me they changed tactic and when I agreed to go down to the federal courthouse in Miami they hung up on me. Hope the feds get these [***].
Same person, Anthony Williams, claimed to be DEA agent. No mention of money or buying meds online. No threats of arrest. Just left message to call office at 617-892-4145 x208. Later, I called the number and got an answering machine. When the answering machine gave me an opportunity to leave a message, I just placed my phone on the desk and let his answering machine record for about 6 minutes until it stopped recording and ended the call. Then I called it back and did the same thing 4 more times.
