I received the same text message. The number came up as unknown. The message read "Cambridge Portuguese CU Alert: Your CARD has been DEACTIVATED. Please contact us at 617-996-9021 to REACTIVATE your CARD."
I got the same text message as above on 2/18/09. I don't have any banking relationship with any credit union. I do bank with Bank of America and strangely, on the 18th, someone from Alabama used my debit card number to ship 23 next day air packages through UPS.Com. I have no idea if the fraud alert text and the fraud were actually somehow related or just a coincidence. In any case, if you get this text message, make sure to scrutinize your debit/credit activity at your actual bank.
