Called me only a couple minutes ago. An automated message telling me that my warranty was about to expire and needed to be renewed. Something like that. Scam. I hung up mid call and blocked the number.
Received a call on my cell phone stating that my auto maintenance insurance premium was over-due and that this was a courtesy call to let me make a payment. I tried to be connected to "billing admin", but the call was disconnected.
It should be noted that I do not drive, nor do I own a car... The call did not identify who the call was for nor did say who was calling.
Calling the number back resulted in a "busy signal" which could mean a mis-configured phone system or the number was spoofed.
If not spoofed from the NPA-NXX (618-230) I found that this number is being controlled by:
NEUTRAL TANDEM-ILLINOIS, LLC

Which is no surprise, as they provide VoIP for anyone that will pay.... Including these scam artists
And low and behold, a close neighbor was the infamous PEERLESS NETWORK OF ILLINOIS,
Both these companies have dubious representations.
I answered. Recording that said its my final warning about my warranty. Then asked if i wanted to speak with a warranty specialist. I said yes. That was a mistake. They asked the question a2nd time then I realized it might be one of those calls trying to get you to say "yes" . After the 2nd time they hung up. Just block them.
