My boyfriend has an ad in Chicago tribune and cars.com to sell his car. He was contacted by a John, who wanted to purchase his car without seeing pictures. He wanted to pay only through PayPal. And he asked for my partner's bank info. He told John that car sales aren't protected through Paypal so he couldn't do transaction. He seems like a scammer cause he kept asking for PayPal and wouldn't give out any info like his last name or email address,

Same here. Listed a car on Autotrader and Cars.com in Kansas City. The next morning (4 AM!) this joker shoots me a text with sloppy english asking about my lowest sale price. Already wary of the distant area code, I text back with a price and tell him cash only. He responds that he will buy it if I give him my paypal address. I tell him again cash only. He then proceeds to demand that I set up a paypal account so he can buy the car. I responded with: 'OK, please contact this number to further discuss the transaction' and I gave him the local Phoenix FBI hotline from the 623 area code. Never heard from him again.
Same here guys... I am ssssooooooo glad I decided to Google this clown's number first. Whenever it seems to good to be true, it probably is!! He told me he is a very busy man buying the car for his wife, wants my paypal info, will send someone to pick up the car once the money clears my account... Silly me for getting excited that I received a text (in poor grammar) within a few hours of posting. I called him on it though... we'll see if he cops to being a scammer! Good luck all !!!
same here...he text me 'is your ad still available for sale? I would like to know is present condition? and tell me the last price you wanna sell it' that is to the letter. I replied some info to which he replied 'I am ready to buy it for my wife and I am busy man with my work and I wish to come look at the vehicle but I don't have time to come there...so kindly provide me your paypal email address so I can arrange for the payment as soon as possible today' that is to the letter his response. I replied 'ya nice try. in person or not at all' for some reason I haven't heard from him since:)
