Some rude guy called me, for like the 10th time, since I filled out an insurance quote online. I did not provide my phone number in the request. It was not from his company. He was very rude that "it was my fault for posting my phone number online." I didn't!
On my call back, the feminine voice identifies the company as Consumer United. She claims they are the largest independent online insurance agency in America. Their home office is in Boston, Massachusetts regardless of the area code which indicates the west side of the Phoenix, Arizona.
The first call: music - but I hung up before anyone came on the line. The incoming call number was displayed as "UNKNOWN".
The second call: was also music but I hung up before anyone came on the line. The incoming call number was displayed as "+16234556221".
I went online to see if I could find the source of the number... and the same number as indicated above was calling back.
On my call back, I was greeted with the feminine voice who identified the company (as noted above).
Shortly before the calls began, I was online searching for lower auto insurance rates.
I believe Consumer United was one of the insurers from whom I requested a quote.
Consumer United should have identified themselves as soon as I picked up and then indicated they were going to put me on hold until one of their agents could connect.
The call always shows up on my caller ID as Consumer United. They have called about a dozen times today. I think they are trying to sell something. I never answer numbers that I do not recognize, and these jerks have never left a message. I finally got so tired of it that I just turned on my fax machine. They won't get anything but the "ready to receive tone". Enough is enough already. Can't our government stop this?
