Good Lynn. And then share the knowledge. The more people that are aware of their rights will mean less ill-gotten gains going in to the pockets of frauds and scammers.

I received a call from 6235659227 saying they were in route to serve me with papers but he was giving me a chance to call 888-839-1751 first since I knew nothing about this I then look up the numbers on line and it is telling me this might be a scam because they don't call to give you a warning to say they are in route to serve you with papers just wondering if this has happened to anyone else ?
You're quite correct Lynn. Your caller was a fraud or a desperate junk/zombie debt collector. The old "serving papers" routine was the scammers down-fall. The clueless SOBs never seem to realize that most people know perfectly well that process servers NEVER call ahead of time & they DON"T deliver messages.
If these clowns call again tell them that they now have 5 business days in which to mail you (NOT e-mail or fax.) the required notice of validation. As per federal regulation under the FDCPA. When they refuse or start blustering...case closed! They're frauds!
We see fraudulent collectors using these tactics here everyday. Google the FDCPA. The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. It's not complex. Once you've learned your rights, fraudulent debt collectors can no longer intimidate you.
Be Safe. Be Aware.
