This number just called. Caller ID said: Phoenix AZ. Don't know anyone in this area code. Let it ring over to my answering machine. As soon as my greeting ended the caller hung up! PITA!!!
"We'll be in your area replacing landline security systems with a free wireless security system..." or something like that. At least it was an actual person wasting my time!
I've received various calls that start with a "11" before the regular phone number. That tells me that the call is originating from OUTSIDE the United States. I don't pick up calls that aren't identified, but these are very obvious. NEVER answer them if you have caller ID on your phone.
