Called dropped when answering machine picks up. Rings without answering when calling number; possibly a VoIP phone that cloned a legitimate number. As caller ID says "EL MONTE CA" it is most likely a scammer. telemarketer or someone/something trying to see if you are home. Have not found any legitimate
callers who use this type of caller ID; they probably rotate cities/phone numbers to trick you into thinking it's someone you know from there. Most likely a construction scam as they change phone numbers often and call multiple times a day/week. Best advise is to screen all calls, any you don't know let the answering machine/voicemail pick up; if no message is left (or ones you don''t want to hear) block the caller with a call blocking phone (like Panasonic) or other device. Also don't do business with anyone you don't already know that calls to sell service or products, if everyone did that it would eliminate phone scams (and a lot of annoyance calls).
