Caller had foreign (perhaps Indian) accent, and stated he was with the IRS. Gave me his name as Mark Jones, and his ID # as IRM 1295. Told me it had been determined that I was guilty of tax fraud between 2010 and 2015, and IRS would be placing liens against my house, bank accounts, and car. They would also be sending local law enforcement to arrest me unless I paid the $7,986 I owe. He stated he was located in Washington, DC, 1111 Constitution Avenue. (That is the address of IRS headquarters, and they do not handle individual collection matters there.) I told him I thought IRS would have sent me letters regarding this matter. He stated they did, twice, and both times a yellow card was left for me to call them. but I failed to do so, so IRS is now considering me to be a tax evader, guilty of fraud. I then stated that his ID # was not the correct format for an IRS employee, and that I retired from the IRS a little over a year ago, and know this call is a scam. He asked me what the correct format was, and I laughed at him, stating I was not going to help him dupe innocent people. I asked him, "Why not, for once in your miserable life, just come clean and state that you are a thief and a low life? I will be reporting this call to TIGTA." At that point, he hung up..
