I received a text saying the following (I work at a salon)...
"Hello, How are you doing ? I will love to know if you do spa treatment, and I will like to make a group booking, can you handle a basic facial spa treatment for 6 people on the 29th of this month? please bear with me i am hearing impaired ....... Thanks Mary wills"
I asked the necessary questions to book the appointment and got this as a reply...
"Thank you for you understanding toward my request on my facial
treatment and I will go for that time, pleasure reading from you, the
reason i contacted you by phone is because i am hearing impaired,I
have a wedding coming up and i want you to do the facial treatment
for the 6 people on 29th of this month,so i want you to get back to me
with the total estimate for the 6 people and i want you to know that
the people who will come to have the facial treatment will come
with private transport so the driver will drive them back, So let me
know the types of credit card you accept so i can text you back with
my credit card information to charge for all the expenses and i want
you to get back to me with your cell phone number and shop address
so that i can have your shop information complete with me so i can
forward"
I realized it was a scam and said I wouldn't be able to accommodate her party and haven't heard from her again. Since I received this text, I've had colleagues in a Salon Forum say they've been getting this text also. My experience they will also try this with other businesses.
