Got a phone call from this number. Never left a message, just hung up. They came up on my Caller ID as 'AA' ... not sure if that's a person or company..?

Just got a call from this number. Man with very gruff voice asked for me by name. I asked who was calling. He gave a name and said something about calling on behalf of the police. Yeah right! I've gotten calls from this same person before wanting a donation for the police fund. Total scam! Told him he was a lying scumbag and hung up on him.
Caller id says "Monrovia, California". NOT a local call. Man wanting donation in association with police. I declined and he went on to say they except credit cards. Smells fishy to me.Told him no, he continued on so i hung up.
