Anybody receive a call from this number? I received a call and they left a message. It was a recorded voice stating that it was the IRS telling me to call them back ASAP before they take legal action... it is a SCAM because I don't owe any taxes. I believe the IRS would contact you by mail initially if you did owe.
Someone saying they are Julie Smith called from IRS saying it was urgent that we contact them before they take any action against us. Well, we do not owe any taxes and the IRS would not such a message ending with "have a nice day."
Clearly a scam. Hopefully some older gullible person will not fall for this. The voicemail transcript(from google voice text to speech engine) is as follows:
Yeah, I need you. Your your retained attorney of record to return the call. Yeah issue at hand is extremely time sensitive, yo, yo officer. Julie Smith from internal revenue service, yeah, and The hotline. 2. My position is (626) 888-4498. Yeah, I repeat. Yeah, it's (626) 888-4498 yo the disregard this message and if you return the call before we take any action against you, yeah bye n take care bye.
Just received the same call. Was confused had just woke up. Caught me off guard. Called back number would not go thru. DO NOT CALL THIS NUMBER! SCAM .........
