Caller ID comes up as Fire Charitfund. The voice on the answering machine asks for us by the wrong name. That is how I know it is connected with a Children's Cancer Charity and breast cancer charity because when those call they also use the same incorrect name. I think they are real charities, just those poor quality ones who give very little of their collection to the needy.

Caller ID read: "FOX VALLEY VW". I made the mistake of picking up this call. Fake caller ID info. Turned out to be a "professional fundraiser" for the "Illinois Firemen's Association" seeking contributions. LARGE contributions. Like: "we'll put you down for $50.00" ...no... "O.K. then, we'll just send you a pledge card for $20.00". 'click' ...be warned all 800noters. If this is legit, they're really scumbags for faking the caller I.D. Unfortunately, they now know they have an active phone # here & will probably be selling that info.
i usually don't answer if i do they ask for Joe. I asked him to stop calling and he asked if i was the man of the house. i will call back and leave a message to stop calling. They still call several times a day.
Do not call them back-it will only create more incoming calls. The best thing you can do is ignore their calls. When they don't get an answer they'll get bored and move on. You might want to consider getting a call blocker.
